Biography of NASEEM PASHTOON SHARIFI

Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, TORONTO- CANADA

 Naseem Sharifi was born in Kandahar, Afghanistan and later moved to the United States of America where he completed post secondary studies in Business Administration, Psychology and International Relations.

Prior to his appointment as the Consul General of Afghanistan in Toronto (September 2020), he served from December 2018 as the Consul General of Afghanistan in Mumbai, India.

In May 2016 Mr. Sharifi was appointed as advisor on Youth and Social Affairs to the President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan. Considering his influence among the Afghan youth in the society, he was appointed by the president as a leading inspirer and catalyst among the Afghan youth to mobilize support for the vision and goals of the current government.

Between April 2015–February 2016 Mr. Sharifi served as Chief of Protocol for the office of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. 

In 2014 he joined President Ghani's Election Campaign as head of community fundraiser. He was responsible for planning, directing and coordinating major fundraising events on behalf of electoral camp, among the Afghan business community both in and outside the country.

As entrepreneur, Mr. Sharifi opened the first-ever Western Style Café in south-west Afghanistan (in 2003), Arakozia Afghan Advertising company and created “Sur Ghar Newspaper”, the first-ever independent Newspaper in south-west Afghanistan.
